To better assist you, please folow the following steps in releasing and renewing IP address:

1. Press Windows Key + X and select "Command Prompt (admin)".
2. Type ipconfig /release and hit Enter.
3. Then type ipconfig /renew and hit Enter.
4. Type Exit and hit Enter.

Type and Enter each of these cmds as an Administrator from the cmd prompt :-

netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipcnfig /registerdns

Then reboot.

If you still don't have a connection, then check that all your Network Services are Started - click on Start, type services.msc then press Enter.

Their startup type should be Automatic or Manual

DNS Client
Network Connections
Network Location Awareness
Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
Server
TCP/IP Netbios helper
Wired Autoconfig is set to manual.
Wireless Zero Configuration ( XP wireless configurations only)
WLAN AutoConfig ( Vista/7 wireless configurations only)
Workstation

If any aren't started or cannot be started, then open their Properties and ensure each of their Dependencies are started.

Hello,

I'm having a similar issue and I tried all your ideas. I still have a "Local Area Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration. But I'm able to connect to WiFi no problem with the same computer.

So with trying your ideas, when I try to release or renew the ipconfig, it tells me:

"No operation can be performed on Ethernet while it has its media disconnected.

No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection while it has its media disconnected.

No Operation can be performed on Wireless Network Connection while it has its media disconnected"

However, if I do those same commands whilst actually connected to Wifi, they go through, and I restarted my computer and nothing changed. So I've now done it twice, with my computer connected to wifi they pass. Without the wifi, they fail.

My LAC says 'unidentified connection; no internet access'. Then gives me this:

Manufacturer: Realtek
Description: Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
Driver version: 10.12.1007.2016

I also checked all my drivers are updated.

Any other ideas that I could try? Thank you!
